Beschreibung: The construction of a small secondary school in the southern Norwegian village of Sauland, which PPAG architects designed together with the Norwegian Helen & Hard, brings cluster and village together. Austrian-international school construction expertise and Scandinavian timber construction expertise were the subject of a successful fusion. Free learning and project-oriented teaching are in the foreground, frontal teaching is limited to a sensible level. It was the largest new construction project in the village for 20 years.
Beschreibung: This exhibition is a plea for progress in architecture, housing and urban design. Our way of living has nothing to do with our genes, it is rather acquired behaviour that has been passed on over generations, and any further development is prevented by the durability of the houses in which we live.

Beschreibung: Municipal education facility for 0 to 14-year-olds
Beschreibung: The individual houses consist of 47 types of flats that are simply stacked on top of each other within the same contour. As a special feature, each flat has access to its own garden on the same level, with a link to natural ground! These gardens therefore “rotate” around the house according to the number of floors, thus mobilising interior ground plans. This way, the living rooms, for instance, are not built on top of one another, which keeps unwanted views to an absolute minimum. Earth supports piled around the building help to reduce the percentage of exterior walls.

Beschreibung: To provide ex-convicts with a near-to-normal daily routine requires according spatial organisation. Accommodating working areas in separate buildings offers inmates the possibility of identifying themselves with both their own activities and small group, at the same time appealing to their sense of responsibility. Moreover, the detrimental effect of a large central institutional building is avoided.

Beschreibung: Subsidised housing with 169 flats and communal spaces emphasising neighbourhood-building
Beschreibung: The competition demanded a concept for several grounds around the building “Stadt des Kindes” realised by Anton Schwaighofer in the 70ties. The building was a very experimental project and therefore also a big challenge although it was not active part of the competition. One geometric body offers in three positions three types of houses. We chose this solution as normal houses and terraces houses were to blocking for the area.
